How It Works - Three Simple Steps

Give. Starting January 1, 2027, make a donation through ACE Scholarships' secure platform. It is quick and easy.

Direct your gift.You can designate your donation to a specific school or to the Office for Catholic Schools to be used strategically for areas of greatest need.

Claim your credit.Keep your emailed receipt and claim the credit on your 2027 federal tax return. The maximum credit is $1,700 per individual, $3,400 per couple.

Why Your Gift Matters

There are many Catholic families who would love to provide a Catholic education for their children, but who need tuition assistance to make it possible. Every one of our Catholic schools has open seats. This new tax credit has enormous potential to make Catholic schools more accessible, with our schools being able to offer perhaps twenty times as much financial help to interested families. In addition to helping families, the increased enrollment will strengthen our schools, allowing them to invest in programming and to increase teacher salaries.

Who can give?
Any U.S. taxpayer with a federal tax liability can give and claim the tax credit. You don't need to live in New Mexico or have children in Catholic schools - grandparents, alumni, parishioners, and friends can all give.
When can I give?
Gifts first qualify for the tax credit on January 1, 2027. Sign up for updates and we'll let you know as soon as giving opens.
How much should I give?
The credit covers gifts up to $1,700 per person each year, or $3,400 for married couples filing jointly. Your tax professional can help you decide what's right for you.
Can I direct my donation to a specific student?
No. Donors may send their contribution to a particular school but not a particular student.
Why am I giving through ACE Scholarships and Catholic Education Fund instead of to the school itself?
The Education Freedom Tax Credit law requires donations and scholarships to be processed through state-approved scholarship granting organizations. In addition, ACE Scholarships and Catholic Education Fund have extensive experience and will provide legal, compliance, and administrative support that will be very helpful to our Catholic schools.
